Founded in 1955
English Construction was founded in 1955 by Karl English of Bloomington, Indiana.
By the time Karl retired in 1979 he had built over 500 homes in southern Indiana not including barns, remodeling and commercial projects. Howard English, Karl’s eldest son, continued the business after Karl’s retirement.
Howard’s daughter, Donetta Held, started working for the company in 1979.
Donetta Held, has been President of the company since 1984 and has continued since Howard’s retirement in 2003. In 2009 English Construction changed its legal name to English Hi-Techdry, Inc. to reflect the restoration repair services they specialize in (fire, wind, water damage).
Becoming a full service restoration business.
English Hi-Techdry, Inc. is a certified firm of IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration) and prides itself on hiring IICRC trained personnel. English Hi-Techdry, Inc. is a full service general contractor and restoration specialist. Donetta Held likes to say “We are your one stop shop where it’s convenient for our customer’s to have one company to handle all their needs.” English Hi-Techdry’s personnel consist of highly trained IICRC professionals who take pride in doing a job right the first time. English Hi-Techdry’s staff includes skilled carpenters, fire and water certified restoration technicians.
Growing into new markets.
In July 2001 we started a sister company called CRISIS CLEANING expanding our services to include death and crime scene cleanup to meth lab cleaning, sampling and testing. Donetta Held has been a Qualified Inspector for IDEM since January, 2007. Rick Held and Bill England became Qualified Inspectors in February, 2009. Matt Lee became a Qualified Inspector in December, 2010. Crisis Cleaning can assist in all areas of the decontamination project to ensure that properties are returned to service in a timely manner.
A lifetime of commitment.
Our mission is to provide all our customers with above and beyond excellent restoration services. Where coming home at the end of the project, everything is not only back to a pre-loss condition, but it is improved and ready to move back into. Our carpenters carry shop-vacs and brooms and know how to use them to keep the jobsites in a neat and orderly condition.
All personnel at English Hi-Techdry perform their work with the highest regard for safety and the comfort of our customers, following all state and local guidelines and applicable building codes.
English Hi-Techdry's service area currently includes twelve counties in southern Indiana (Greene, Monroe, Lawrence, Owen, Brown, Morgan, Bartholomew, Jackson, Daviess, Orange, Sullivan, Clay).
Donetta Held continues with the same quality workmanship and services as provided by her father and grandfather. The personnel at English Hi-Techdry have over 125 years combined experience in the construction and insurance repair and restoration industry, project scheduling and contract administration. English Hi-Techdry, Inc. is big enough to get the job done right, but small enough to care!
